What to Put in Your Request
Start with the problem and where it is. For example, write that a pipe is leaking under the kitchen sink, or that the boiler shows no heating. Then add your postcode and a phone number, because they let an engineer contact you.
Say if the job is urgent. Also say if anyone at home is elderly, unwell or without heating, since it helps us understand the situation. Add the best time to call, although we cannot promise a set time. Keep your phone nearby, because we use it to reach you.
While You Wait
If you smell gas, do not use the form. Open the windows, avoid switches and flames, and call the free gas emergency line on 0800 111 999. The Cadent guide to smelling gas explains each step.
For a leak, shut off the stop tap first. The Met Office advice on burst pipes also covers the electrics. Our guide to the signs of a burst pipe shows what to look for. Meanwhile, our burst pipe and leak detection page explains the repair. Know where your stop tap is, because you may need to find it quickly.
